Watch Repair NYC Announces Post on Why Professional Watch Repair Matters

New York, NY – February 1, 2012. Ron Gordon Watches, a leading New York City Watch Repair company, is proud to announce their latest blog post explaining why professionalism matters in watch repair. Many customers mistakenly focus on the cheapest watch repair, or have an unfounded notion that one can estimate the cost of a watch repair (even for expensive watch brands like Tag Heuer, Omega, Breitling, Rolex, and other luxury watches by email and over the phone). Not so, explains master watchmaker, Ron Gordon, in his latest blog post.

“Customers ask me for the cost of repairs on their Tag Heuer, Omega, Breitling, Rolex, and other luxury watches by email and over the phone all the time,” explains Mr. Gordon. “But, I have to see the watch to be able to estimate the repair cost. Unfortunately, there are unscrupulous watch vendors out that their give unsubstantiated estimates over the phone or by email. Either the customer is unhappy because the repair ends up costing far, far more than the estimate, or even worse, the repair is botched, ruining an expensive luxury timepiece. I aim to educate my customers on the importance of fair estimates.”

Resealing a Luxury Watch – Tag Heuer, Breitling, Rolex, or Other – the Why and the How

Another common issue is the problem of resealing water resistant watches. Many customers are frustrated by the high costs of repairs, and skeptical of the need to reseal a watch. In the blog post, Ron Gordon explain why water is a watch’s worst enemy and why customers should have their watches resealed if necessary. Only a professional, educated watch repair expert can make the determination of all needed repairs. If a customer has an expensive Omega Seamaster or Tag Heuer Aquaracer chronograph, and it isn’t sealed correctly (replacing all the gaskets) then it may leak water next time that customer swims with it. That will be very expensive to repair. Not resealing your watch is being penny wise, and pound foolish. There is no way to tell if a watch is water resistant after it is opened unless it tested properly. Better to be safe then sorry later!

High End Watches are like High End Automobiles

Many people are penny wise, and pound foolish. After making a substantial investment in a quality watch, they then want to skimp on repairs. In the blog post, Mr. Gordon explains how illogical this is. Omega Co-Axials, Tag Heuer Monaco’s, Brietlings, Rolexes ex. all need special tools, equipment and training to repair them correctly. These are expensive, high quality machines – not unlike fine BMW or Bentley automobiles. A person wouldn’t take his BMW or Bentley into just any repair person on the street, and so the same goes for a watch. Take it to a trained professional to get it repair correctly and avoid costly repairs by having it done correctly the first time.

Ron Gordon believes in educating his customers, over the phone and by email as to how to care for their quality luxury watches, so that they last a lifeteim and beyond. Establishing the importance of professionalism in watch repair is a major goal of his website, and his blog.
