Either the customer is unhappy because the repair ends up costing far, far more than the estimate, or even worse, the repair is botched, ruining an expensive luxury timepiece. Resealing a Luxury Watch – Tag Heuer, Breitling, Rolex, or Other – the Why and the How
Another common issue is the problem of resealing water resistant watches. Many customers are frustrated by the high costs of repairs, and skeptical of the need to reseal a watch. In the blog post, Ron Gordon explain why water is a watch’s worst enemy and why customers should have their watches resealed if necessary. Only a professional, educated watch repair expert can make the determination of all needed repairs. If a customer has an expensive Omega Seamaster or Tag Heuer Aquaracer chronograph, and it isn’t sealed correctly (replacing all the gaskets) then it may leak water next time that customer swims with it. That will be very expensive to repair. Not resealing your watch is being penny wise, and pound foolish. There is no way to tell if a watch is water resistant after it is opened unless it tested properly. Better to be safe then sorry later!
